Worldroutes thread

Sun Sep 24, 2017 6:32 pm

As World routes is held in Barcelona, I thought we should get some interesting updates.

Wow Air CEO: Iceland will be the Dubai of the north.

Willie Walsh: Level A330 v Norwegian 787 – ownership biggest differential. Level A330 is US$400,000/month lower than Norwegian 787.

Willie Walsh: IAG isn't in the market for more Airbus A380s because they're too expensive.

Willie Walsh: Air France's Joon = Lower losses

Willie Walsh: "I’d be surprised if we’re not doing a Ryanair to Aer Lingus feed by next summer".

Willie Walsh: "We'd accepted losses at short-haul but now we've changed and all sectors of BA incl shorthaul are profitable"

Willie Walsh: BA's paid first class load factor is under 50%

Willie Walsh: BA to deploy the A321 across the atlantic.

The end of this plane

Willie Walsh: IAG isn't in the market for more Airbus A380s because they're too expensive.

Got to give it to Willie Walsh, he is fighter. His determination to compete and do what it takes to be profitable is remarkable.

I wrote in airliners.net a few years ago that KEF was to be the DXB of the North Atlantic and a few posters laughed at me.

Interestingly, I would say that in those days KEF gets more new destinations and carriers than DXB.
