Usually the easiest way to find the reg # is by typing the flight # on FR24 (not on FlightAware!) However FR24 says it was N822NW, whereas FlightAware says it was N806NW. Why the discrepancy?

Was N822 subbed in to replace N806, perhaps?

In other news, I noticed 3508 is scheduled to operate the inaugural 350 service on DTW-PVG.

Like I mentioned in the main thread, FR24 is only showing the aircraft assigned to the current flight. 3306 was the incident aircraft, and 3322 is the rescue flight. 3322 is actually in the air now going to London.

Yeah.... Most likely can't trust FlightAware for everything lol. Rookie mistake and lesson learned lol. XD

Except this time FlightAware was correct, and FR24 was incorrect! I'm not sure "Rookie mistake and lesson learned lol" refers to here, and what it has to do with my post, but maybe YOU just learned something here! LOL!

Anyone know why DL 39 was so late leaving for Hong Kong this afternoon. It was still at A12 at SeaTac at almost 1600.

I'm not sure why this keeps getting misreported, but the aircraft involved was N806NW, not N822NW, which was the substitute aircraft which flew DL30 from ATL>LHR Wednesday night, eventually departing about 4 1/2 hrs late!

Does anyone have any info as to why N502DN went tech at ICN between arriving at 3.45am last Saturday and before its schedule departure back to DTW at 10.35am the same day? According to the usual sources it's still at ICN more than three days later!

I’m curios on this one too.

Also, any updates on 863DA and the Delta One upgrade? It seems to still be in Singapore over two months later.

7003 is now undergoing STC activities. This could take up to 30-60 days. Once completed, it will fly to MSP for an FDA inspection.

So, how long until we should start seeing the first photos from inside the new cabin?

My best guess would be at the earliest, around the 1st of June.

I'm not so sure DL is going to put a lot of fanfare on this occasion, because there's only one ship completed and some folks might come to expect the suites on all of the 777s. I'm not even sure when the next 777 is going to Singapore, though I do know that it will be a 77L this time.

Will the 777 with the D1 Suites be 1-2-1 correct? This will be quite the upgrade for the 777's with the old herringbone DeltaOne seats.

Cant wait to see the updated 777's with the D1 Suites. (That being said also excited for the 767-400ER's to get them installed).

While I was in the KE Lounge at ICN yesterday, I heard a couple of announcements concerning a delay on the departure of DL158A, operated by N502DN, which I could see parked off stand. As mentioned, the flight # was DL158A, so it wasn't a ferry flight after all, as I reported in my reply # 360 above! There were certainly a few Americans in the Lounge who were still there when I left for my 8pm flight, so I assume they were on the A350. No one has reported here or on other forums as to what the problem was that caused it to go tech at ICN! Anyone know?

I never did get a reply as to why it went tech for 3 days at ICN one week ago, and then spent another 5 days at DTW. I'm certain that someone on here knows what happened! It's now scheduled to return to service this afternoon.

It had lost yellow system hydraulics, and from what I heard, Airbus had to send a field team out to come and take a look at it so they could ferry it back.

An interesting tidbit is the 350 only has 2 hydraulic systems.

It actually operated as DL158A last Tuesday night. I was in the KE Lounge in T2 that evening, and when I left to board my 8pm flight, there were plenty of Americans still there who were flying back on it; thus it was not a ferry flight back to DTW, it was an extra flight carrying passengers, though probably was not full! Most of this info was already reported in my reply #370 above!

Question for you all. I am flying to Amsterdam tomorrow on Delta. The flight is almost always been a A 330-300. On occaison it goes to a
A330-200. It was an A330 when my wife and I booked it a few weeks ago. Its now changed to a 777-200ER for just the day we are flying. Then it returns back to the Airbus. Can anyone tell me why Delta would do just a one day change of aircraft. I could understand it if it was a last minute switch but this aircraft change was made weeks ago. I am not complaining....I have never flown on a 777 so I am looking forward to this trip. We also go Delta comfort so it should be nice.....Thanks in advance. I know someone out thereknows why this happened...

It's likely that the A330 that was initially on your route has to undergo a routine maintenance check (which the airline can plan weeks in advance, or up to the very last minute). Normally, Delta would just substitute in another A330, but there many not have been any available at that time.

Not much of an expert, but I know sometimes they would do that for an equipment swap, for example the A330-300 you were gonna fly must had a schedule to go to maintenance that day and was gonna be switched to an available aircraft that was not running at the time, in this case the 777 took over that date for the flight. Hope this helps and hope you have an awesome flight, I love the 777 aircrafts!

Thanks for the fast respose to my aircraft swap question. I hope I enjoy the 777 as much as I did the A330-300 last time we went to Europe. Thanks again to everyone.....

Actually 5/1 is significant route/aircraft swap date for DL as a number of routes are changing aircraft type effective that day (for summer scheduled). As a result, there are a number of one-off pre-planeed substitutions to allow a smooth transition of those routes.

N865DA is currently on its way from SEA to FAI to do what looks to be a quick military charter to McChord AFB. it will reposition to SEA and be the 777 you will ride on to AMS. N801NW is scheduled to fly DL143 tomorrow to SEA and currently does not have anything filed as to where it will go next.

Completely lost yellow hydraulics and the #2 eng yellow pump ran for quite a while with no hydraulics. Airbus was sent to assist. It stayed in DTW to complete repairs on some hydraulic lines and the engine hydraulic pump.

763ER - N172DN has had an accident with it's right winglet....sitting in JFK SkyClub and watching the Police and grounds control investigate. Any one have more information as to what happened? It has a huge dent in the front and a gash along the side. Did it run into something while taxiing?

According to FlightAware, it arrived from Nice at 2.53 pm at Gate 30. Was it at the same gate when you saw it? A lot of DL aircraft are towed off-stand to a remote stand to free up gate space, prior to flying somewhere later that evening.

@audidudi yes it was at Gate 30. They towed it out to free space once the inspection was complete, it was probably at about 4:15pm. They had 4 police, 5 or 6 ground control cars and 3 fire trucks at one point surrounding the aircraft. Delta agents were constantly taking pictures and monitoring the whole situation. My other thought was maybe a large birdstrike, but not sure how it would have gashed the side of it.

Well that's a weird one! I'm trying to think what is tall enough to hit the winglet? And is the gash at the front of the wing or at the end of the wing near the winglet? I guess you didn't take any pics?

Yeah, that looks more likely to be either a bird strike or FOD damage. The only other possibility would be it hit another aircraft during taxi and they didn’t stay at the scene.

Hey guys! New user--this (and the 2017 post) got me to sign up :D

I'm looking at flying ATL-LAX this coming summer, and I know that DL1255 (typically departing ATL just before 9AM) is often a B77L. As a Delta Diamond, I'd much rather get upgraded to the D1 seat (even with "First" service) than to a normal "First Class" seat.

Looking through flights, I noticed that the flight switches to the 767 with First, then later to a 757-300!! Since the 77L usually continues on to do LAX-PVG and will be changing to the A350, will what widebodies will be doing domestic routes from LAX (other than JFK, of course)?

Thanks!

The only widebody aircraft I see from ATL is the 777-200LR. There use to be two widebodies that headed straight to LAX (The other being the 767-400ER), not to many options these days since there a lot of 737-900ERs, A321-200s, and 757-200/300s that do just the job.
